Information released:
These documents are correspondence dating from 2004 and 2005, between the
Electoral Commission and the Department for Constitutional Affairs, on postal
voting fraud and electoral malpractice. They include, the government's
response to postal voting, a circular letter sent to chief constables on
information for the general election, a letter sent to all returning officers
before the general election and a letter to the Electoral Commission on
correspondence received during the all-postal pilot elections.

This is the government's response to any queries on postal voting
fraud. This document is known internally as "lines to take". The
DCA press office used it for responding to any queries received on postal
voting fraud, following the judgement in the Birmingham cases and the period
before the General Election.
