Since the Freedom of Information Act came into force, there has been an impact on central government department resources when dealing with information requests. The impact on resources was assessed in spring 2006.
The departments were sent out a data collection template. They were asked to record the time taken by each official involved in handling information requests that were received in a monitored period. The data was analysed and projections were produced on the impact of changes on resources.
