Information released:
These three documents are from a project that installed video links between prisons and courts. This prison video link system allows defendants in custody to remain in prison and appear for preliminary court hearings. The system was in place in 156 magistrates' courts, and then successfully piloted in a Crown court in Manchester before being extended to 29 Crown Court centres. The video link system enables Her Majesty's Court Service to implement Section 57 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
