Legal Services Market Study - quality in the legal services industry, a scoping study.
The legal services market study is currently investigating whether consumers have sufficient information about the quality of service and value for money they can expect when they hire a lawyer. This scoping study identifies the type of research and analysis necessary to answer key questions posed in the study's terms of reference.

The aim of this study is to identify whether there might be either under or over supply of barristers willing to take on legal aid cases. This is an independent report carried out on behalf of the Department for Constitutional Affairs.

Government response to CASC report on Legal Aid Asylum Appeal
This is the government's response to the Constitutional Affairs Select Committee inquiry into new legal aid arrangements for onwards appeals. These new arrangements will underpin the new Asylum Immigration Tribunal (AIT) and are contained in the Community Legal Service (Asylum and Immigration Appeals) Regulations 2005.

Law Commission quinquennial review 2002/3: implementation plan
A review of the Law Commission in 2003 set out 42 recommendations for change. This implementation plan sets out the recommendations and how the Government has responded to them. One is being taken forward separately, two are for the future, and 39 have now been dealt with.

Our debt programme emphasises the need for better information and early effective advice, to aid the earlier engagement of parties to resolve debt problems in ways that avoid coming to court unnecessarily. This position paper outlines where we are today on a number of initiatives to bring about proportionate dispute resolution.
