Background to the DCA Procurement Division

Our procurement division is a central unit staffed by procurement professionals, which provides procurement support and advice to the DCA and its agencies; including Her Majesty's Courts Service (HMCS) and the Public Guardianship Office (PGO).

The division plays a major part in delivering the efficiency commitments that we are undertaking.

Our key business drivers are:

The procurement team is skilled at all levels to enable them to engage with commercial suppliers. There is a responsibility within the division to ensure that the focus is continually maintained on customer needs and this is done in partnership with our external providers.

We welcome both large and small businesses to assist in meeting our public service objectives. In common with all other government departments, we ensure that value for money is a prime objective in all of our commercial activities.

We follow the OGC Code of Good Practice for Customers and Suppliers 'The Government Procurement Code of Good Practice for Customers and Suppliers'pdf file.

In addition to letting our own contracts for goods and services, we often use collaborative opportunities, by utilising available framework contracts set up by other Government departments. Those contracts will have already been through the competition process, in accordance with Public Procurement Regulations. We also utilise Government frameworks that have been implemented by OGC Buying Solutions, e.g. SCAT, GCAT and Portfolio Directory.
