These booklets contain current guidance on mental capacity issues and relate to current law in England and Wales only.

During April 2007, when the Mental Capacity Act comes in to force, these booklets will not be relevant, however new booklets will be produced.

The booklets are for:

• adults who need support to make decisions because of a learning disability or difficulty, brain injury, mental health problem or any other illness or disability which affects their capacity to make their own decision
• people involved in caring for them
