Ministerial executive board
The ministerial executive board (MEB) is chaired by the Secretary of State and Lord Chancellor. It sets a clear high-level strategy for the Department and its remit is to:
- Oversee progress on the strategy and policy priorities set by the Secretary of State and Lord Chancellor for the Department and the operation of the Department
- Identify actions to ensure the strategy and priorities are delivered effectively
- Maintain an oversight of the Department's financial position commitments
- Maintain high standards of propriety and corporate governance
- Oversee relationships with key DCA stakeholders

Departmental management board
The departmental management board (DMB) is chaired by the Permanent Secretary. It supports the ministerial executive board (MEB) by ensuring delivery of the strategy set by the Secretary of State and Lord Chancellor. Its remit is to:
- Prepare a business plan with annual and longer term objectives on the basis of the Secretary of State's priorities
- Ensure delivery of the our public service agreements, setting performance and quality targets
- Ensure that we are resourced and motivated to achieve our objectives effectively, and build capacity for the future.
