Biography

John Lyon was appointed Director General Legal and Judicial Services & Secretary of Commissions at the Department for Constitutional Affairs on 17 February 2003.
He worked in the Cabinet Office in various posts 1969 - 1978 and in home and social affairs 1978-1980. He worked in the Home Office in various posts 1980 - 1994, as director of criminal justice 1994 - 1998, as director of sentencing and correctional policy in 1998, director of police policy 1999 - 2000, and director general of the policing and crime reduction group 2000 - 2003.
