Telephone hearings

In July 2005, the DCA launched a public consultation exercise to seek views on the nationwide rollout of the expanded telephone hearing scheme, which at the time was being piloted at Newcastle, Luton and Bedford county courts. This report summarises the responses received and outlines the final shape of the proposals described in the consultation paper.

Consultation

This consultation paper sought views on the proposal to extend the use of telephone hearings in the civil courts. The consultation was undertaken on the back of the success of a telephone hearing pilot scheme run at Newcastle, Luton and Bedford county courts.


Responses

This report summarises the responses received to the consultation 'Telephone Hearings in Civil Proceedings'. It highlights the overall support of respondents to the proposals to extend the general scope of hearings that can be dealt with by telephone and proposals to extend the scheme nationwide. It also sets out our decision to take forward the proposals.
