Consultation paper

The consultation paper sought views on the Government's proposals to give the relatives of homicide victims a say in criminal proceedings through an oral personal statement after conviction and before sentence. Relatives would also have enhanced information, advice and assistance throughout the criminal justice process.

This consultation paper invited comments on the Government's proposals

This report summarises the responses received to the consultation ‘Hearing the Relatives of Murder and Manslaughter Victims' and sets out the Government's intention to pilot Victims' Advocates.
