  1. MCCs are the bodies corporate responsible for overseeing both the effective running of the courts in their area and, in London, once the GLMCA is set up, for the funds to provide that service. However, it is the JCE who makes arrangements for the efficient and effective administration of the courts in their area.

  2. This means that the Justices' Chief Executive should take the necessary steps to implement this Code by drawing its contents to the attention of all MCC members and Selection Panel members. S/he should secure an undertaking from each member that he or she will abide by the provisions.

  3. The JCE will also need to ensure that each MCC and Selection Panel member (and their spouse or partner if applicable) has completed and returned to him a copy of the Declaration of Interests. S/he will need to ensure that all MCCC and selection panel members return their declarations with 3 months of the Order coming in to operation.

  4. In addition, the JCE will need to keep the Declaration of Interest forms in a Register. S/he should also make arrangements for the publication of the Register of Interests in the MCC's Annual Report. S/he should also ensure that the Register is available for public inspection.

  5. The JCE will also need to draw members attention to the Gifts and Hospitality paragraphs and the need for a return/report/declaration to be completed as and when necessary. These returns will need to kept safe and made available for inspection when called upon to do so.
