  2. Introduction of Ms Anita Bharucha, Head of Legal Services Development Division.

  3. Minutes of the last meeting.

  4. Matter arising: action points from last meeting:

    • Sir David Clementi's review of the legal services framework.
    • The DCA led programme on regulation and competition - update from Secretariat.
    • The National Occupational Standards for Legal Advice Project.

  5. Legal and Advice Services - A Pathway to Regeneration. A paper by the DCA and the Law Centres Federation. Discussion.

    Note - Mr Steve Hynes, Director of the Law Centres Federation, will be attending the meeting at 11am to give a brief overview of the report.

  6. The Legal Profession - Entry, Retention and Competition. Initial discussion. (Referral No 2/2004.)

  7. The Standing Conference on Legal Education. Confirmation on date (23rd November) and update on proposed agenda.

  8. ILEX application for increased advocacy rights - initial discussion. (Referral No 3/2004.)

  9. Work programme 2004/2005. Discussion of amended draft, in the light of the Panel's response to Sir David Clementi's consultation paper.
